This is a standard PCIe capture card — it works on its own in any Windows or Linux PC. A VSN wall controller chassis is only needed if you're building a multi-display video wall; most of our capture cards are sold and used as standalone cards in a single workstation.

About This Product
The XtremeDV-S2 is a high-performance dual-channel capture card built for SDVoE (Software-Defined Video over Ethernet) AV networks — a software-based, standards-compliant AVoIP platform for distributing uncompressed HD and 4K video over standard ethernet and fibre infrastructure. Where most of the XtremeDV range captures directly-wired HDMI, DisplayPort or SDI sources, the S2 instead captures video that's already been placed onto an SDVoE network by a compliant transmitter — the card handles both channels of decode simultaneously at full 4K60.
Being fully SDVoE-compliant means the S2 works alongside other manufacturers' SDVoE transmitters and receivers, not just EMS/Datapath hardware, which makes it the right choice for large-scale AV-over-IP deployments where video and audio need to travel over existing network infrastructure rather than dedicated point-to-point cabling. It inherits the same hardware scaling, EDID management and automatic signal detection as the rest of the XtremeDV range, and a full SDK is available for custom integration work.
Where This Product Fits
Specify the XtremeDV-S2 when video needs to travel over a standards-based AV-over-IP network — a large campus, stadium or broadcast facility already using or planning an SDVoE backbone — rather than direct point-to-point HDMI/SDI/DisplayPort cabling. Because it's SDVoE-compliant rather than tied to a single vendor's proprietary network, it's the right choice when the deployment needs to interoperate with third-party SDVoE transmitters already in place. For a direct-wired source, the rest of the XtremeDV range (UHD2, DP2, SDI4, HD4+) is the simpler and more cost-effective option.
