This is a standard PCIe capture card — it works on its own in any Windows or Linux PC. A VSN wall controller chassis is only needed if you're building a multi-display video wall; most of our capture cards are sold and used as standalone cards in a single workstation.

About This Product
Capture four DVI-I high definition streams simultaneously on a single card. The Xtreme-HD4 is an eight-lane PCI Express capture card with four independent channels, providing a high performance, high density solution for control room, medical and other applications that require high capture bandwidth — the quad capture capability combined with EMS's multi-stream and synchronisation features enables resolutions up to 4096×2048 and Quad HD solutions.
All four channels are triple-buffered into onboard storage for tear-free video, with embedded HDMI audio streamed from each channel independently. Each of the four capture processors provides roughly 800 MB/s of bandwidth, for 3.2 GB/s total across the card, and the driver is fully integrated with EMS VigiControl wall management software for video wall applications.

Xtreme-HD4 is built for control room and medical applications needing four DVI-I capture channels on a single card at real capture bandwidth — 3.2 GB/s across four independent 800 MB/s capture processors — rather than four lower-bandwidth channels sharing one pool. Where the sources are HDMI rather than DVI-I and true 4K60 4:4:4 per channel is needed, the newer XtremeDV-HD4+ or XtremeDV-UHD2 are worth comparing; Xtreme-HD4's strength is DVI-I density and VigiControl integration for existing control-room deployments. It's also sold and used standalone in a single PC just as often as inside a VSN chassis — a wall controller isn't required if the project is a multi-channel recording or monitoring workstation rather than a video wall.
