This is a standard PCIe capture card — it works on its own in any Windows or Linux PC. A VSN wall controller chassis is only needed if you're building a multi-display video wall; most of our capture cards are sold and used as standalone cards in a single workstation.

Product Overview

About This Product

An eight-channel PCI Express video capture card supporting PAL, NTSC and SECAM in composite and S-Video formats, with de-interlaced capture and display at 25/30fps for real-time video overlays. Delivering 480MB/s transfer bus bandwidth from a standalone four-lane PCIe plug-in card, it suits multi-display presentation software (recommended by Dataton WATCHOUT), digital signage, machine vision, voyage data recorders and simulation/military command & control applications.

Fully integrated with the EMS family of video wall multi-display products, the Ex8 captures composite or S-Video output from a source and displays it as an independent real-time application on your video wall, with configuration software that auto-detects timing and format.

Applications & Markets

Where This Product Fits

XtremeRGB-Ex8 is the highest-density option in the range for pure SD analogue capture — suited to digital signage estates and command & control rooms consolidating many legacy composite/S-Video sources onto as few PCIe slots as possible. If any channel needs to carry a DVI or HD source, the mixed-input XtremeRGB-Ex4+ or dual-channel XtremeRGB-Ex2+ are the better fit; Ex8 is specifically for all-SD deployments.

The Bottom Line

Why Choose the XtremeRGB-Ex8?

  • High performance DMA with scatter-gather
  • On-board processor for real-time mode/sync detection
  • PAL, NTSC, SECAM, composite and S-Video
  • Dynamic input source selection

The XtremeRGB-Ex8 is backed by EMS's UK technical support and standard 3-year warranty (5-year extended available on most of the range) — get in touch if you're not sure it's the right fit and we'll help you spec it correctly the first time.
