This is a standard PCIe capture card — it works on its own in any Windows or Linux PC. A VSN wall controller chassis is only needed if you're building a multi-display video wall; most of our capture cards are sold and used as standalone cards in a single workstation.

About This Product
Discreet video capture is now the mainstay of many small form factor appliances used in markets such as lecture capture, distance learning and medical environments. The XtremeLC-SDI provides tri-band SDI capture for these applications, and its LiveStream:Capture architecture allows captured video to be processed and delivered in real time to a processor or graphics card.
The card supports on-board colour space conversion and scaling, natively handling 32, 24, 16 and 12-bit YUV and RGB formats, and is tested against Microsoft Media Encoder, VLC, Telestream Wirecast, vMix, OBS and other DirectShow-compatible software. More than one card can be fitted for multiple capture channels, though the LiveStream:Capture architecture means it isn't supported for wall controller applications relying on EMS's MultiStream technology.
Where This Product Fits
XtremeLC-SDI suits small form factor, embedded lecture capture and distance learning builds working from an SDI source — its LiveStream:Capture architecture trades the wall-controller MultiStream support of the larger Xtreme ranges for a smaller board and lower cost single-channel card. If the source is HDMI rather than SDI, XtremeLC-HD covers the same single-channel use case; if two capture channels are needed on one card, XtremeLC-HD2 doubles up HDMI capture instead.
